Decompression Therapy is a non-surgical procedure that effectively relieves pain associated with disc herniation, degenerative discs, posterior facet syndromes, by reducing the pressure on the spinal discs and facet joints through unloading created by distraction and positioning.

Decompression Therapy effectively enhances the healing process and renders quick, effective and amazing relief that most patients to return to a more active lifestyle.

Research to develop this procedure was conducted by prominent physicians, engineered and technicians at major teaching hospitals.

Considerable research has shown this therapy to be upwards of 80% effective in treating intervertebral disc problems.

Decompression Therapy is a FDA cleared traction based procedure that is highly successful for patients suffering from bulging, herniated, degenerative, or ruptured discs as well as sciatica, carpel tunnel syndrome, and many failed surgery cases.

Decompression Therapy occurs as a result of an improved understanding of how to reliably cause the spine to "unload". The vertebral separation causes a vacuum or a centripetal force in the disc, which results in a "negative systolic pressure".

Decompression2.pngThis" vacuum effect" helps in the retraction (pulling in) of the extruded disc material. When the disc retracts it can stop putting pressure on the spinal nerve or spinal cord.

Pre and Post Treatment MRI's have shown a 50% reduction in the size and extent of herniations.

This treatment helps patients avoid the risk of anesthesia, surgical complications, and the potential of failed back surgery.

All of your exam findings will be thoroughly explained to you prior to starting Spinal Decompression Care.

Prior to beginning treatments, you will be evaluated to determine if you are a candidate/ Your medical history, x-rays, CT/MRI scans are carefully reviewed. If you are a candidate for therapy, an individual treatment plan is created for your specific needs.

This is a pre-treatment prior to beginning Decompression, The patient benefits from relaxation of muscle spasms, and relief of minor muscle and joint aches along with effectively conditioning the discs for repair.

Decompression Therapy begins with a series of sessions typically 3-4 times per week. Each session is approximately 10-15 minutes. Following each session, electrical muscle stimulation is applied to help relax your muscles and ligaments. Clinical studies suggest Decompression Therapy provides a majority of qualified candidates with initial relief within a few sessions. Some patients will find relief after 1 session.

After treatment your doctor may prescribe specific exercises designed to help you regain control and strengthen the co-contractor muscles which are responsible for stabilization.

Decompression Therapy is administered to the patient fully clothed either face up or face down on the table.

This therapy is so relaxing that many patients fall asleep during the sessions.

Decompression Therapy is a traction based procedure that is covered by most insurance companies, and is compensated under ACT 57 (PA Workers Compensation) and ACT 6 (PA Personal Injury).

  5. Recent fracture
  6. Severe Osteoporosis
  7. Abdominal pressure
  8. Pregnancy
  9. Cardiac / respiratory insufficiency
  10. Joint hypermobility
  11. Acute joint and / or soft tissue injury
  12. Depression and anxiety
